The NFL begans its Colour Rush programme in 2015 with a game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets. Each team wore matching jerseys, pants, and socks. In this case, however, the Bills’ red uniforms and the Jets’ green uniforms caused confusion amongst viewers with colour vision deficiencies.
The following season, Colour Rush uniforms were introduced for all 32 NFL teams. Most teams played at least one Colour Rush game in that season. The NFL took CVD concerns into account at this point; in the event of a potential conflict, one team changed to a different colour.
Starting in 2018, teams have been permitted to wear their Colour Rush uniforms in games of their choice, effectively making Colour Rush uniforms another type of alternate uniform. Furthermore, since 2022, teams have been permitted to wear alternate helmet shell colours with their Colour Rush uniforms.
In this simulator, you may see how teams’ Colour Rush uniforms appear to those affected by colour vision deficiencies. You may also see how the Colour Rush uniforms would appear in a different colour.
