The 2024 Summer Olympics concluded yesterday in Paris, France. During the closing ceremony, the Olympic flag was handed over to Karen Bass, mayor of Los Angeles, CA, USA. Los Angeles will host the next Summer Olympics in 2028, and accordingly, Mayor Bass passed the flag to the icon most associated with the city of Los Angeles: Tom Cruise’s motorcycle. The icons next most associated with the city of Los Angeles also featured: the Hollywood sign, Snoop Dogg, and Dr Dre.

Seven years ago, we reviewed the Los Angeles organising committee’s plans for competition venues. Astoundingly, earlier this year, they announced that they were accepting our proposal to hold the swimming competition in a temporary pool at the LA Stadium in Inglewood.

We here at GoobNet, of course, congratulate them on finally seeing reason, and we encourage them to think bigger by adding Mission: Impossibling as a new Olympic sport.
