ABOUT GOOBNET
Deb Harratsch
GOOBNET MANAGING EDITOR
This is Deb.
She likes bacon, The Onion, and indoor football. She dislikes needless enthusiasm, hot weather, and junk mail addressed to “Resident” or “Our Friend At”.
Deb had the idea for a site that spoofs all the annoying portal sites on the web. When she brought it to Reg, she sparked his enthusiasm, and portHOLE[tm] by GoobNet [now porthole.goobnet.net] was created.
Before becoming the managing editor of GoobNet in JUN 2007, Deb edited porthole.goobnet.net and was a frequent participant in GoobNet’s Weekly Whines, including an appearance as the host of “Who Wants to Be a GoobNetaire” and the diarist of GoobNet’s Halloween parties in 2005 and 2006.
She came from a single parent household in Kansas City, MO, USA, where her mother moved from one assembly line job to another. Every year on 01 NOV, she throws three quarters and two nickels into a convenient body of water in her mother’s memory – Miranda Harratsch was hit by a pickup truck outside her place of work, a transparent tape factory, on that day in 1996.
Deb didn’t admit to it, but she felt insecure at being the youngest of the GoobNet staff members. Hence, when Amber Lynn joined the staff, Deb, seeing much of herself in Amber Lynn, felt the need to take the newcomer under her wing. But unknown to Deb, Amber Lynn still feels uncomfortable around her mentor.
She likes making up back stories about people she sees on streets, in shops, or on buses.
She dislikes people who don’t think before they talk.
