My draw is better than your draw

As you are well aware, the draw for the 2010 Men’s World Cup was a great success, in that only a few people left believing that the whole thing was rigged. So now that you know which teams will play whom when, shouldn’t you decide that the result was inferior and that you can make a better one yourself?

Of course you should. So conduct your own draw right now. Just select which teams should be dropped in which pot, select whether you want to activate confederation protection [which, if activated, will ensure that each group will contain no more than CEIL(N/8) teams from a given confederation, where N is the total number of teams from that confederation], and then draw away! It’s that easy!

Well, okay, it isn’t that easy. Best results are achieved if Pot 1 contains seven teams and the others each contain eight. Failing that, at least try to make sure that Pots 3 and 4 have a total of sixteen teams.
