HEARTANDSOUL Phase 1 complete

Hello, and welcome. As we all saw moments ago, the first Heartland Line train from Kansas City has just arrived here in Philadelphia, which means that the first phase of the GoobNet Highly Effective Accelerated Railway Transit for Accessing National Destinations with a Special Opportunity to Unify Locations train network is finally up and running!

Yes, we are very pleased. But this is merely the end product of a great deal of work that has been put in over the years. We’d like to thank all of the construction crews who worked on each of these lines, who have spent so much time and effort laying the tracks, building the overpasses and bridges, and upgrading these stations to what you see today. Each line will stand as a testament to your labour.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped sell this project and who helped keep it sold. This was a massive investment in our country’s future, and it will continue to be. Now that you can travel from Houston to Dallas in just a couple of hours, or from Seattle to Portland, or from here to Pittsburgh, without all the hassles associated with air travel, we believe that you will all agree that it was a worthwhile investment.

We’d like to thank everyone who worked on the documentation. You will see that we have plenty of system maps and timetables available. Please pick up a copy. And you will note on that map that there are still quite a few dotted lines. We are, after all, hard at work already on Phase 2.

We’d like to thank everyone who will be working on these trains and in these stations. Conductors, ticket sellers, ticket takers, servers, attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers. They’re all critical parts of any train network. You’ll see some of them each time you ride one of these trains, but please do remember that there are many, many more behind the scenes who help keep the trains stocked and running smoothly.

Well, that’s enough talk. What do you say we take the Gold Line to Chicago?
